Where to locate
Installation
For minimum protection, smoke alarms should be installed in
every bedroom, children's room and hallway. In habitable
attics,asmokealarmshouldbeinstalledabovethestairs.
The alarm sound must be loud enough to wake sleeping
residentsinthecaseoffire.
In the case of open connections between floors, one smoke
alarmshouldbeinstalledoneachlevel.
Smoke alarms must be installedon theceiling, asclose to the
center of the ceiling as possible. The minimum distance to
walls,light fittings,electrical wiringsand applilances,beams,
andfurnituremustbe50cm.
Inroomswheretheceiling hasaslopeof>20°,"dead" airat
the peak of the ceiling may prevent the smoke from rising.
Therefore in these rooms, thesmoke alarmsmust beinstalled
min.0.5mand max.1mfrom thepeakoftheceiling. Ceilings
withan inclination of 20°should be regardedas horizontal
ceilings.
InL-shapedrooms,thesmoke alarmshouldbeinstalledatthe
mitre line (see diagram). In large L-shaped rooms, each side
oftheroomshouldberegardedasaseparateroom.
Themaximuminstallation heightofa smokealarmshould not
exceed6m.
Rooms that are separated by partition walls, beams, or
furniture,shouldbeprotectedbyasmokealarmineachpartof
theroom.
If the room is larger than 60m²,the installation of additional
smokealarmsisnecessary.
In hallways with a maximum breadth of 3m, the distance
between two smoke alarms must not exceed 15m. The
distance of a smoke alarm to the end wall must not exceed
7.5m. In each intersection, junction, and cornerof a hallway,
theremustbeonesmokealarm(mitreline).
The smoke alarm should be easily accessible to carry out
cleaningandtesting.

Ifabuildingistoocomplicatedortoolarge,pleasecontactasecurityexpertorthefiredepartment.
On thewall ornear doors,windows, openingsin theceiling, fansetc., where draftsmay blowaway smoke
orcausefalsealarms.
Inareaswherethetemperaturesareregularlybelow0°Corabove55°C.
Inhighhumidityareas(e.g.bathroom).
Insmallorpoorlyventilatedgaragesorkitchens,whereexhaustfumesorsteammaycausefalsealarms.
Ininsect-infectedareas.
Inplaceswhereyoucannoteasilyaccessthesmokealarmfortestingandcleaning.
In areas where air circulation may cause false alarms, e.g. in staircases outside the apartments (in
apartmenthouses).
Nearlightfittingsorelectricalwiringandappliances .
Nearextremelybrightlightsourcesordirectsunlight.
In areas where dust or dirt may impair the function of the smoke alarm or cause false alarms (e.g.
workshopsorbarns).
Inareaswhereheavycigarettesmokecanbeexpected.
Nearopenfireplaces,ovens,stovesetc.(minimumdistance4m).

necessary. If this unit is installed by an installer, this manual must be handed out to the owner of the

Installationsite: Dateofinitialoperation:
Thissmokealarmdetectssmoke fromsmolderingfiresatanearlystageand warnswithaloudpulsatingalarm
(85 dBA/3 m). It is designedfor the use inprivate households and habitablerecreational vehicles and is not
approvedfor public,industrialor commercialbuildings. Thefields of operationof smoke alarmsare described
in DIN 14676. In the case of fire, smoke alarms can only give alarm, if the smoke reaches them. Everything
thatprevents thesmoke fromentering the smokealarm's housingmay delayor even preventthe alarm.A fire
inanotherroom,floor, orareaofthe homewillonlybe reportedwhenthesmoke reachesthesmokealarm. For
thisreason, youshould installa smokealarm in everyroom -at leastone oneach floor,observe theminimum
protection according to your locallegislation. Smokealarms areno substitute for a property or life insurance.
Appropriatecoverageisyourresponsibility.Thissmokealarmisnotsuitablefordeafpersons.
Contaminationof the smokealarm bydust ordirt may leadto falsealarms. Ifthe dirtcannotbe removedfrom
outsideasdescribedin thechapter"Maintenance/Cleaning",the unithastobereplaced byanewone.There is
nowarranty fordirty units.This smokealarm is equippedwith abuilt-in non-exchangeablebattery andhas to
bereplacedafter 10yearsof operationatthe latest. A reliableearlywarning offireand smokeisonly given,if
thissmokealarmisusedaccordingtotheseinstructions.
