Riskswithrepainting
ThereareseveralriskswhendisassemblingorassemblinganAxisproduct.Trainingofoperatorsandtheuseofcorrecttoolsmediates
someoftheproblemsbuttheycanneverbefullyavoided.Someoftherisksinclude:
ESDDamage-AlwayshandletheproductinanESDsafeenvironment.EvenifprecautionsaretakenthereisalwaysariskofESD
damage.Thedamagecanremainundetectedandcauseproblemsduringthelifetimeoftheequipment.
Paintoverspray-Maskingthedifferentcomponentsoftheequipmentiscritical.Failuretomasksensitiveareascancauseproblems
whenassemblingtheequipment.Areasnotpaintedatthefactoryorwhichhaveadifferentsurfacetreatmentthanthepartstobe
painted(threads,groundandelectricalcontactsurfaces)mustalsobemaskedtoensurefunction.

Preparations
•Ifapplicable,disassemblethedeviceaccordingtotheinstructionsinthisdocument.
•Cleanallpartsthatwillberepaintedthoroughlytoremovegrease,dust,oroil.
•Toensurereassemblyandfunctionalityoftheproduct,maskanyopenings(forexampleforscrews,LEDindicators,
ormicrophones)beforeyoupaint.
Pretreatmentofparts
Dependingonthepartmaterialandtypeofcoatingappliedatthefactory,pretreatmentmightbenecessaryforthenewcoatingto
adherewell.Beforeyouapplyanewcoating,werecommendthefollowingpretreatment:
1.Ifnecessary,roughenupthesurfacewithalightsandpaperorsimilartoincreaseadhesion.Alternatively,removethe
originalcoatingdowntothebasematerial.
2.Cleanthepartsproperlytoremoveoil,grease,anddust.
3.Ifnecessary,applyaprimerlayersuitableforthespecicmaterial,toincreaseadhesiontotheparts.Formetalpartson
outdoorproducts,werecommendaprimertoimprovecorrosionresistance.

•powder-coated
•wet-painted
•anodised
•chromated
•stainlesssteel
•othermetal
•plastic
